Lompoc Pops Masthead

Celebrating some of America's most beloved music, the Lompoc Pops Orchestra brings an evening of exciting and beautiful music to its Central Coast audience on Monday evening, June 18th at 7:30 p.m.  Under the talented and creative baton of Dr. Brian Asher Alhadeff, patrons are guaranteed to experience a fantastic evening that include featured soloists vocalist Alba Franco-Cancel and pianist Matthew Harikian.

Ms. Franco-Cancel has brought life to many roles including the title role in "La Calisto", Gilda in "Rigoletto," Musetta in "La Boheme," Zerlina in "Don Giovanni," and Maria in "West Side Story" among many others. Recent awards include semifinalist in the James Toland Vocal Arts Competition and finalist in the American prize Vocal Competition. In addition, she has been a twice recipient of the "Bella Voice Award" from the Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions. Alba received a Doctoral degree in voice from the Conservatory of Music of the University of Missouri and is currently a resident artist with Opera San Luis Obispo.

Matthew Harikian returns to the Pops audience after much acclaim from his last year's performance of "Rhapsody in Blue." A native of Fresno, California,  Matthew is currently pursuing Master's degrees in both Piano Performance and Music Theory at the University of Minnesota. He will be performing the "Warsaw Concerto" for this special appearance with the Lompoc Pops.

On the program will also be selections from "King and I," "Show Boat Highlights," "Star Wars Through The Years," "Back to the Future Suite," and the "West Point March." 

Special to this concert will be one of Cabrillo High School's top instrumental students directing the orchestra in the “Star-Spangled Banner”. Also honored will be the Lompoc High school and Cabrillo High school POPS scholarship recipients.

The venue is Lompoc's beautiful First United Methodist Church located at 925 North F Street. Admission is still only $20 for adults, $5 for full-time students of all ages with student I.D. shown at the door, and for children 12 and under, admission is free. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling 805-735-6463.
