Lompoc Pops Masthead

By Connie Barlow

Cafe Musique takes over the stage for the Lompoc Pops Orchestra's April 9th concert. And true to form, it completely lives up to its name with a musical pallet that includes gypsy, swing, tango, folk and their self-described "wild classical." Members reside on the Central Coast of California although all five come from wildly different backgrounds. Having entertained around the world including several world-class music festivals, Cafe Musique has made thousands of fans of their powerful, emotional and beautiful sounds. The Pops is pleased to bring them to the Central Coast audience for this very special and unique performance.

Cafe Musique has shared the stage with Doc Severinsen, the David Grisman Quintet and Los Lobos in addition to Grammy award-winner Louis Ortega and Broadway vocalist Sarah Kleenman.

What others have said:

(They demonstrate)..." a level of musicianship and an emotional impact rarely found" -- Glenn Starkey, music critic, New Times, San Luis Obispo.

"Their sound is something like two scoops of gypsy folk with a classical sauce and a sprinkling of chopped jazz. It's delicious, exotic and just overflowing with talent... the group was phenomenal, alternating smoothly from fast to fun to serious and enduring, but it was the group's humor
that really stole the show." -- Nick Powell, New Times, San Luis Obispo

"Cafe Musique's recent performance in Cambria was a musical kaleidoscope....Brynn Albanese absolutely ignited the place with her
version of CZARDAS." -- John Brannon, The Cambrian
