A HISTORY ~
Our first orchestra was formed to assist in providing entertainment at Vandenberg Air Force Base for their SPACE WEEK event in July of 1997. Maestro Rodolfo Fernandez took the baton at this time and has remained at the podium to see the orchestra grow from 26 musicians to 38 and the audience swell from 350 patrons to as many as 2,100 per concert night!
MISSION ~
The mission of the Lompoc Pops Orchestra is to promote the Love of Music through a permanent professional orchestra performing classical and pops concerts as well as providing music education and outreach programs throughout the Lompoc Valley and surrounding communities. The Pops Orchestra is composed of many of the finest professional musicians on the Central Coast of California. Each season begins with a Season Premier in October. Three concerts follow in December, February and June. A popular "Old Fashioned 4th of July" provides a patriotic concert at Centennial Park in Olde Towne Lompoc and also for our neighbor, Vandenberg Air Force Base.
