Chris Hunter-Baritone


Chris is a Los Angeles based actor and singer. He recently performed South Pacific with the Culver City Symphony Orchestra and previously with San Diego Musical Theatre. He played Anthony in Sweeney Todd in Budapest, Hungary. He also played a variety of roles in Kurt Weill’s Lost in the Stars, with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. With Guild Opera, he has sung Rodolfo in La Boheme, and has taken part in productions of the opera Alice in Wonderland by Robert Chauls, at various schools in the Los Angeles area. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from UCLA, where he graduated Cum Laude.

Katie McTyre, soprano

KATIE McTYRE - Soprano

Katie is a graduate from NYU Steinhardt’s Master of Music program in Vocal Performance in Music Theater, studying under Dr. Megan Besley. She obtained her BA in Music from the University of Connecticut, where she studied under Dr. Constance Rock. Holding both a Bachelors and a Masters degree in music she has had extensive training in both classical repertoire and contemporary music theater. A lover of cabarets and standards, Kate is also well versed in oldies, jazz, and popular music. When not performing, Katie maintains a full studio of voice and piano students, music directs children’s theatre and heads the music program at the Egremont School. Favorite past roles include: Mrs Lovett -Sweeney Todd; Mother - Ragtime; Petra - A Little Night Music; Irene Malloy – Hello, Dolly!; Maggie Mundy – Dancing at Lughnasa; Rona Lisa Peretti – 25th Annual…; Eve – Children of Eden; Mdm Thenardier - Les Miserables


Sarah Raines, Soprano


Sarah is a graduate of NYU in classical voice, sings professionally all along the central coast. Last spring she performed in Oklahoma! at Opera San Luis Obispo, and she will return to OperaSLO in October as the Second Spirit and Papagena cover in The Magic Flute. Sarah has also been featured in productions by The Great American Melodrama, SLO Repertory Theatre, and will be starting her third season with Opera Santa Barbara this fall. In addition to classical music, she is also a seasoned music theatre actress, recently seen as the jump-roping-while-singing role of Brooke Wyndham in Legally Blonde. Some of her other favorite roles include Sister Berthe in The Sound of Music, and Hope Harcourt in Anything Goes. Locally, she produces the Lompoc Youth Theatre, which will be celebrating its ten-year anniversary next summer.

Shira Rene Thomas, Soprano


Ms. Thomas has enjoyed an active performing career, having performed nearly 20 different operatic roles, including Violetta, Adina, Juliette, Pamina, Marguerite, Micaela, Lucia, Gilda, Fiordiligi, and many others. She has worked with such renowned artists as Nicole Cabell, Milena Kitic, Quinn Kelsey, Rod Gilfry, and Ana Maria Martinez. She was a resident artist with Orange County’s Opera Pacific, and has performed with numerous companies, including Utah Festival Opera, Townsend Opera, Opera San Jose, and Pacific Symphony. Ms. Thomas has won numerous vocal competitions, including the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod Vocal Solo Competition in North Wales, which has hosted such competitors as Luciano Pavarotti and Bryn Terfel in past years. Ms. Thomas is also the Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Center Stage Opera in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley, currently in its thirteenth season. Shira Renee Thomas is excited to be featured as First Lady in OperaSLO’s October production of The Magic Flute.

Dylan F. Thomas, Tenor


Dylan has performed internationally in opera, musical theater, and jazz. He has performed such operatic roles as Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Alfredo in Verdi’s La traviata, Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca, Don Jose in Bizet’s Carmen, and Alfred in Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus. Musical Theater roles have included the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Clayton in Tarzan the Musical, and Ali Hakim in Oklahoma! Thomas covered the title role of Verdi’s Otello with Utah Festival Opera, and performed the role of Constable in Fiddler on the Roof, and King Francis in Rodgers and Harnick’s Rex with the same company. He performed with Townsend Opera Players in Modesto, CA as a soloist in their season-opening concert, Opera Fusion. Thomas played the role of Ambrogio in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Opera Pacific has been a headliner for Opera San Luis Obispo’s Broadway by the Sea in both 2014 and 2018. Mr. Thomas was engaged as a performer in three different variety shows at Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan. He performed the role of Luigi in the street theater production of The Five Topping Opera, and was also a tenor soloist in the holiday spectacular, A White Christmas Carol, seen by upwards of 40,000 people each performance. Thomas is the Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director for Center Stage Opera, located in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley, where he has also acted as Principal Stage Director for the past 13 seasons. Dylan Thomas is excited to be featured as Monostatos in OperaSLO’s October production of The Magic Flute.
